1.Change the air filter in your furnace to ensure that your home is keeping warm air flowing through your HVAC system. With a few months of cold weather still ahead of us, now is a great time to ensure your furnace is running as effectively as possible
2. Check your home’s siding and windows for any cracks or missing sealant to ensure that your home is properly insulated. Also on the topic of keeping your home warm, this will ensure that heat is not escaping.
3. Inspect your roof and gutters for any damage or debris to prevent potential water damage. The combination of snow, ice, rain and rotting leaves can be hazardous to your roof and gutters. Prevent yourself from future headache by preventing damage.
4. Clean out the lint trap in your dryer to reduce the risk of a lint fire. This is an easy task to forget about, but one that can become a safety hazard. Try to get into the habit on cleaning out your lint trap once a week.
5. Check the batteries in your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors to make sure they are in good working condition. It’s always important to have working smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, but especially so in the winter months when you are spending more time indoors and using things like heaters.
